Robotics is a fabulous science that concentrates knowledge of mechanics, electronics, engineering, and software, all together. Many people see robotics as a science, a hobby and a passion and many enthusiasts recognize this. There are also very well known robot competitions.
For those that want to compete with other robotics lovers there are a few guidelines to consider. First of all, the rules of the contest must be studied thoroughly in order for the robot to be accepted. Size, materials, tools – are all specified in the regulations. Specific contests must be studied to see what features the robot should have and what it should be able to do.
The first step in creating a robot must always be planning. A full blueprint must be sketched out, a design made and an architecture considered. Robotics deals with the construction of a robot from start to finish, comprising all the steps from construction, operation, structural disposition and the applications used for it.
After building the robot it must be tested again and again to ensure it will work under the different conditions of the competition. It takes great dedication and much patience, never forgetting the knowledge – but it is a very rewarding hobby.
